4/26/2019 0 Comments Week of April 22-26Hello parents,
This week ended off with exciting Belfasty day activities designed to celebrate Earth Day! Our class in particular played a special role when they sang "This land is your land" during the school wide assembly that kicked off our days events. Also pictured above is some of the stones the students painted as gifts to be dropped off on doorsteps during our community walk. All in all is was awesome to see the students showing so much enthusiasm as they picked up litter in our field and from the streets in our surrounding neighborhood. Here are some other classroom highlights of note: -We have been looking at non-fiction book to find out what kind of features make them unique, such as; table of content, pictures with captions, maps etc. -In Math we continued to work with shapes and have also returned to practicing calculating higher sums using number lines. -To help the student's writing, we have taken the time to look at common spelling patterns, such as "ing","ang" and "ong". Furthermore, we have been testing the rule "Every syllable has a vowel" -In Science, we had our second design session for making tops. The students reflected on what materials work best and what design rules help their top to be successful. Next week: -Swimming forms come home -We are collecting yogurt container lids for more building in Science -We will begin looking at non-standard units of measurement in math -We will continue our work learning about Acadian culture and ways of life. Have a great weekend! -Mr. Ursenbach
