11/23/2018 1 Comment November 12-23, 2018Hello parents,
Thank you to everyone who came out to interviews this week. In the classroom we have been plugging away at our daily routines of reading and writing. Here are some of the unique highlights of the week: -The grade 5/6 buddies are helping the class make videos interviewing the grade twos about what they have learned about the Inuit people. -On Tuesday we met our ARTIST IN RESIDENCE, who led the class in an exploration of line vocabulary. -We are writing a class book- our own version of "The Gingerbread Man" entitled "Gingerbread Baby". -In math we have begun writing and answering story problems in our math journal. Next week is the last week of November- can you believe it!? Next week we will be collecting names of families to benefit from our annual Giving Tree- for more information on this, check the Belfast School Weekly update. Other then that, we will continue to push on bravely into December. Have a great weekend! -Dallin 11/16/2018 0 Comments Nov. 12-16, 2018Hello parents,
It was a great week! The field trip was a great success. Here's a couple more highlights of what we've been up too. We enjoyed our time at the Glenbow. We had a chance to handle some artifacts and make some art using our five senses. We have been working on math journaling this week. For example, the students were given a number (8) and asked to create a problem that had that number as an answer. This work is meant to teach the students that numbers can be split apart in different ways and also to help them become familiar with the wording of math "story" problems. Next week is a big one. Here's what we've got coming up: No school Friday- IPP meetings in the morning early dismissal (12:15) on Thursday for parent teacher interviews Starting an artist in residence on Tuesday That's what's going on, Have a great weekend! -Dallin 11/9/2018 0 Comments Weekly Update Nov. 5-9 2018Hello parents,
I hope you had a great week! Here are some highlights from our classroom over the last four days: -The grade twos had a fantastic movement piece during the Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday. It was great to some of our parents come out to support them -Students completed a great persuasive writing piece based on the book "Hey little ant". -We continue to learn about Inuit tools and ways of living in preparation for our field trip coming up next week. Which brings me to good things to note for next week: -Field trip to the Glenbow Museum on Thursday (the 15th). So far we have almost all permission forms in, but no confirmed volunteers. -If you are available to volunteer on Thursday, please email me directly! -In math we will begin to talk about addition strategies as we move from the Number Sense unit to working on addition and subtraction. We will continue to read, write and work on math daily in the classroom as November progresses. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday the 22nd for parent teacher interviews. Have a great weekend! -Dallin 11/2/2018 0 Comments Oct. 29-Nov. 2nd, 2018Hello Parents- Happy belated Halloween!
