Just a quick update this week: -The school wide talent show was a success. The performers from room one did fantastic! -In Math we are working with growing patterns and learning to use charts to track them -In Social studies we have consolidated our Acadian research -In Science we have begun to research small mammals Next week: -We will continue to work with growing patterns and learn how to state pattern rules -In Social we will use computers to write out good copies of our research -We will continue to have options in language arts Hopefully the smoke will clear. Otherwise we will continue to keep the students in at recess and lunch. Have a good weekend! -Dallin

5/24/2019 0 Comments Weekly Update May 20-24, 2019Hello Parents!
It's was a lovely week with fantastic weather! Here are some highlights from our week: -In Math we have been finishing up our measurement unit by timing each other reciting tongue twisters and subtracting the difference. -Pictured above is potato printing and the shape research that informed it. -In Social Studies we are using technology to write up our Acadian research -The students sang wonderfully at the volunteer tea! Next Week: -School wide talent show is at 1:45pm on Thursday. Parents welcome! -In Science we will start mini research projects on mammals -In Math we will continue to learn about patterns and the rules that govern them -We will continue to use technology for our writing to prepare the students for next year! Have a great weekend! -Dallin 5/17/2019 0 Comments Weekly Look May 13th-17thHello parents, What a week! The students did great at the swimming pool. Here's what else we've been up to: -We completed our third math assessment for the year. This gives me a good overview of where students are at with their mathematical reasoning and computation. -We have been learning about note taking practices in Social Studies as the students collect material for a class book about the Acadians -In Science we began talking about the distinction between mammals and other animals. Next week: -The Gr. 1-2 talent show is on Tuesday the 21st starting at 11:00 am -We will be starting some personal research about small mammals in Science -In Math we will be finishing our measurement unit looking at time (calendars and timers) -We will`be starting student options for literacy (poetry, dioramas, story rocks and puppetry).
